Description

The ruins of the castle in Nowy Sacz are a fascinating monument of medieval architecture, built by King Casimir the Great in 1350-1360.

This Gothic building, once host to King Louis of Hungary and the saintly Queen Jadwiga of Anjou, impresses with its turbulent history.

Partly destroyed during the Swedish Deluge in 1655 and later in 1945 when it served as a German munitions depot, today it stands as a picturesque testament to its past.

In 2020, a chest with 103 silver objects, probably stolen by German soldiers during World War II, was discovered here.
