Our cycling adventure begins from the heart of the Narew Valley - the Narew National Park. The park's bicycle route is a real treat for nature lovers. It leads along the characteristic floodplains of the Narew River, creating a unique water maze. Remember that before entering the park you need to purchase an entrance ticket - this can be done online at npn.pl or at information desks. Ticket prices range from PLN 8 to 12, depending on the season (as of 2023).

For families with children, we recommend the 'Waniewo-Sliwno Footbridge' route, which is available from spring to autumn. It's a fascinating footbridge over a kilometer-long floodplain, with several observation points. Be sure to check the water level before your hike - information is available on the park's website. The route is easy and safe, but children under 12 should be supervised by adults at all times.

There is also the Lomza Landscape Park of the Narew Valley, which offers additional biking routes. The viewpoint in Drozdowo is worth a visit, offering a beautiful panorama of the meandering Narew River.

When preparing for a trip, take binoculars with you - the park is famous for its abundance of waterfowl. Also, don't forget provisions and drinks, as there may be a shortage of food outlets along the route. Remember to dress appropriately - comfortable shoes, a bicycle helmet and mosquito repellent are a must.

Narew National Park is not only about bicycle routes. Here you can also rent a canoe and discover the charms of the Narew River from the perspective of the water. This is a great diversion for families with children over 7 years old. The park also offers educational trails that will help the youngest understand the unique ecosystem of the place.

Continuing our cycling adventure, we head towards two fascinating places where mighty rivers join their waters with the Narew River. The first is the estuary of the Biebrza River into the Narew, located near the town of Wizna. This is a place where two of Poland's largest rivers together create a unique ecosystem.

To reach the Biebrza estuary, it is best to use the bicycle route leading from Wizna. Remember that the terrain can be waterlogged, especially in spring, so it's a good idea to equip yourself with suitable tires and waterproof clothing. The route itself is not demanding, but it does require some orientation in the terrain - it is worth using maps or a GPS app.

For families with children, we recommend stopping at the vantage point on Strękowa Mountain, which offers a panoramic view of the floodplains of both rivers. This is the perfect place for a picnic and bird watching - don't forget your binoculars! Children will also be interested in the history of the place, related to the 1939 Battle of the Wizna River.

The next point of our trip is the mouth of the Bug River on the Narew, located near the town of Serock. This is the place where the waters of the Bug flow into Lake Zegrzynski, creating excellent conditions for water sports and fishing. The exact location is 52°30'37.3'N 21°05'57.2'E, near the village of Arciechow.

The bicycle route to the mouth of the Bug River leads along picturesque paths along the banks of the Narew River and Zegrzynski Lake. It is a route of medium difficulty, suitable for families with children over 10 years old. Along the way it is worth stopping in Serock, where there is a town beach and water equipment rental - a great opportunity to cool off on hot days.

Keep in mind that during the summer season (June-August) the Bug estuary area can be quite crowded, especially on weekends. It's worth planning a trip during the week or early in the morning to fully enjoy the natural beauty. The water in Lake Zegrzynski is not always suitable for swimming, so check current sanitary notices before planning a beach trip.

For lovers of ornithology, both estuaries are a true paradise. In spring and autumn you can observe numerous species of birds during their migrations. It's worth taking along a bird atlas - it's great educational fun for the whole family.

When planning a trip to the estuaries, remember to prepare properly. Take with you:

Exploring the Biebrza and Bug estuaries is not only a great cycling adventure, but also a live lesson in geography and ecology. These are places where you can really feel the power of Polish rivers and understand how important they are for our ecosystem.

At the end of our cycling journey in the Narew Valley, we offer two routes ideal for families with children - the Trail on the Żerań Canal and the Forest Bike Path 'Lake Krusko'.

The Żerań Canal Trail is an excellent option for residents of Warsaw and the surrounding area looking for a weekend adventure. The trail starts in Nieporęt, at Stefana Czarnieckiego 10, 05-126 Nieporęt. It can be easily reached by car or public transportation from Warsaw.

The bike path along the canal is about 17 km long and is perfectly flat, making it suitable even for the youngest cyclists. The route is fully paved, which makes it easy to ride with bike trailers or child seats. Along the way, many attractions await you:

• Numerous picnic spots and benches for resting
• Viewpoints on the Narew floodplains
• Opportunities to observe waterfowl (bring binoculars!)
• Playground in the middle of the route (near Białobrzegi)

The trail is accessible all year round, but it looks most beautiful from spring to autumn. Remember to bring a supply of water and snacks, although you will also find small stores along the way.

For those who want a more woodsy vibe, we recommend the 'Krusko Lake' Forest Bike Path. This scenic route is located near the village of Serafin (07-437) and is part of a larger forest complex.

The path takes the form of a 22-kilometer loop, which allows you to plan your trip without turning back. The route is varied - it leads through forests, along lakes and marshes, which makes the ride very interesting. Here's what awaits you on this trip:

• Birdwatching points with lookout towers
• Educational information boards about local flora and fauna
• Resting and barbecue areas
• Opportunities to see wildlife (roe deer, foxes, hares)

The route is moderately difficult, suitable for children over 10 years old. The surface is mainly gravel, so consider bikes with wider tires. Remember to bring snacks, water and a basic bike repair kit.

Both trails offer great educational opportunities for children. On the Canal Trail, you can tell them about the importance of water canals and the life of water birds. On the 'Lake Krusko' trail, on the other hand, children will learn about the diversity of the forest and learn to identify tree species.
