Description

Orientarium Zoo Łódź is a modern zoological complex dedicated to the fauna and flora of Southeast Asia.

It is the only place of its kind in Europe, where you can admire the largest Indian elephant in Europe and the critically endangered Sumatran orangutans.

The longest underwater tunnel in Poland with more than 1,300 sea creatures, including sharks and rays, provides an unforgettable experience.

Interactive attractions, towers and educational tables make it an ideal place for families with children, who can also feed and stroke the animals at the mini zoo.

avatarDonatas Liaudaitis3 months agoVery nice place to spend a day out together with kids. Massive area to walk around, lots of interesting animals, internal amenities looked after and nicely presented, however outter gates and animal cages should see some refurbishment or update. Generally great place to visit, however, it would probably make more sense to maybe give directions of the best way to walk by, to see all animals. Without directions - walk is scattered, if missed something have to walk through everything again.
avatarTeevi Puhma month agoVery beautiful, clean and huge place. Easy to walk around, lots of different animals which you can watch inside the house and outside. We didn't see only few animals. Parking is 50PLN, which you have to pay before going out near ticket office. Prices on the picture as of June 2025
avatarDaniel's Talksa month agoOur family—my wife, our two young children (one still in a stroller), and I—recently made a weekend trip from Warsaw to visit the Orientarium Zoo in Łódź, and we were genuinely impressed. Having visited several zoos across Poland and Europe, we can confidently say that Łódź’s zoo offers a unique blend of modern design, rich biodiversity, and family-friendly amenities that make it an ideal day trip for families with young kids. The drive from Warsaw took us just under two hours. It’s a relatively easy and scenic route, especially if you time it to avoid rush hour. Once we arrived, we were pleased to find ample parking right outside the zoo grounds. There are multiple parking lots available, including a larger one adjacent to the Aquapark Fala, which is just a short walk from the zoo entrance. The signage was clear, and we didn’t have to circle around to find a spot—a small but significant relief when you have two kids and a stroller in tow. The parking fee was reasonable (about 10–15 PLN for several hours), and payment machines accepted cards, which made things convenient. There are also drop-off zones for those who want to unload before parking, a thoughtful touch for families like ours. From the moment we walked in, the place felt clean, modern, and well-organized. The entrance process was smooth—there are designated lanes for families and strollers, and ticket purchasing is available both online and on-site. We opted to buy tickets online in advance, which saved us from standing in a short but steady queue. As parents traveling with a stroller, accessibility was a top concern, and I’m happy to report that Łódź Zoo exceeded our expectations. Wide pathways, gently sloping ramps, and multiple elevator-equipped areas made it easy to navigate. There were also several shaded resting areas and benches throughout the zoo, allowing us to take breaks without feeling rushed. The bathroom facilities were clean and modern, with family changing stations and dedicated baby-care areas—something we deeply appreciated during diaper changes and feeding breaks. The Orientarium, the zoo’s most modern and talked-about attraction, absolutely lived up to the hype. It’s a large, immersive space showcasing Asian species like orangutans, gibbons, and elephants. The highlight was undoubtedly the underwater tunnel, where we got to walk beneath a massive aquarium filled with sharks, rays, and exotic fish. Our toddler’s eyes lit up with wonder, and even the baby was mesmerized by the moving lights and colorful fish. What stood out to us was how close and personal the animal enclosures felt, without compromising safety or ethical standards. The design encourages kids to engage—there are glass viewing areas at child’s eye level, interactive screens, and even low perches to let the little ones peek over without being lifted. Big Cats Section: The tiger and lion enclosures were thoughtfully laid out, and we happened to arrive during feeding time—always a crowd-pleaser for the kids. Petting Zoo: This was a gentle, calmer zone where our older child got to feed goats and sheep. Handwashing stations were placed nearby, which was reassuring. Playgrounds: Scattered throughout the zoo were small play areas that offered a perfect break from walking and animal-watching. These zones had climbing structures, slides, and shaded seating for parents. There are several cafés and kiosks offering food and drink. We had a decent lunch at the main food court—typical Polish fast food fare (zapiekanki, kiełbasa, fries), but tasty and well-priced. There were also plenty of options for snacks and ice cream, which helped us bribe the kids through the last hour of our visit. For families with toddlers and babies, there are microwave stations and bottle warming areas in the food courts, a great addition we didn’t expect but happily used.
