Description
National Trust - Lytes Cary Manor is a charming medieval manor house with parts dating back to the 14th century, including a chapel dating from around 1343. For more than four centuries it was the home of the Lyte family, including Henry Lyte, translator of the unique book on herbal medicines 'Niewe Herball'.
The mansion is surrounded by stunning Arts and Crafts style gardens with a magical collection of topiary and perennial beds. Walking along the Cary River, one can admire the rectangular 'rooms' separated by tall, neatly trimmed hedges.
For families, there is a forest playground with natural attractions and a croquet lawn. Nature lovers will appreciate the variety of wildlife.
