Description
The Bamber woman's well is a unique bronze sculpture located in the Old Market Square in Poznan. Unveiled in 1915, it depicts a woman in traditional Bamber costume carrying two vats used in winemaking.
The statue commemorates the Bambers - settlers from the German region of Bamberg who came to Poznan in the 18th century.
Originally, the well served as a public fountain with a watering can for horses and dogs. Today, it is an important part of the city's cultural heritage and a reminder of the settlers' influence on the development of the region.
