Description
Giethoorn village is a charming Dutch village known as the 'Venice of the North'. This fairy-tale corner delights with a network of 90 kilometers of canals on which you can navigate in electric boats, preserving the tranquility of this unique place.
Characteristic houses with reed roofs, built on peaty islands and connected by 180 bridges, create a unique atmosphere. The village is named after the goat horns found here, left over from a 10th century flood.
It is an ideal place for nature lovers - surrounded by the De Wieden Nature Reserve, where instead of the hustle and bustle of the city, all you will hear is the quacking of ducks and the singing of birds.
