Description
Rollright Stones is a fascinating complex of three megalithic monuments from the Neolithic and Bronze Age. It consists of the 'Whispering Knights' dolmen (3800-3500 BC), the 'King's Men' stone circle (2500 BC) and the 'King Stone' monolith (1750 BC).
The site is shrouded in rich folklore and legends. According to one of them, the stones used to be a king and his knights who were turned into stone by a witch.
Visitors can admire one of the largest stone circles in Britain, originally numbering 105 stones (now 77), with a diameter of 33 meters. For a nominal fee of £2 you can explore this fascinating monument of prehistory.
