Description
The Zelejowa Mountain Nature Reserve is a geological gem of the Świętokrzyskie region, famous for its unique karst formations - the rocky outcrops, funnels, crevices and caves are among the most valuable in Poland.
Historically, the place became famous for the mining of marble 'Różanka Zelejowska' from the 16th century until the middle of the 20th century, which shaped the present-day landscape of the reserve.
On 67 hectares, you'll find diverse vegetation, including meadows with dwarf trees and thorny shrubs. The area is home to more than 1,000 plant species - that's as many as 50% of all species recorded in Poland!
