Description
The St. John of Nepomuk Monument is an impressive Baroque monument in Wroclaw's Church Square. Erected between 1730 and 1732, this 9.5-meter monument is one of the largest monuments to this saint in the world.
The base of the monument is decorated with four scenes from the saint's life, including his confession to Queen Sophia and execution by being thrown into the Vltava River. The entire monument is crowned by a statue of the saint standing on clouds, holding a crucifix.
This is a great place for lovers of history, art and photography. Beautiful sculptural details and rich symbolism make it a true gem of Baroque sacred art.
