Rzeźba Tankred i Klorynda

The Tankred and Clorinda sculpture is a unique work of art located in the Czartoryski Park in Pulawy. This white marble statue, created by Italian artist Francesco Lazzaroni, depicts a dramatic scene from Torquato Tasso's poem 'Jerusalem Liberated'.

The sculpture shows the tragic moment when the knight Tankred mourns his beloved Clorinda, whom he unwittingly killed in battle. The inscription on the monument reads: 'You perish, lovely Clorinda, from a loving hand, and your Tankred sheds tears over his own victory.'

This is an excellent example of neo-classical 18th century art, commissioned by King Stanislaw August Poniatowski.
