Description
Timanfaya National Park is a fascinating volcanic area on the island of Lanzarote. This surreal landscape was created by eruptions from 1730-1736, which transformed fertile fields into authentic lava fields.
Temperatures below the surface reach as high as 600°C, which is demonstrated during demonstrations - water poured into a fissure instantly turns into a geyser of steam!
The park is famous for its unearthly views in colors of red, brown, black and orange. Despite its seemingly inhospitable environment, it is home to more than 300 species of lichens and endemic plants.
