Description
The Kopice Chateau | Schaffgotsch Chateau Ruins is a picturesque ruin of a neo-Gothic complex that once could rival the castles on the Loire River.
The palace, nicknamed the 'Palace on the Water' because of its location by a pond, was home to aristocratic families, including the Schaffgotsch family, who purchased the property in 1859 and carried out significant renovations.
The 54-hectare English-style park surrounding the palace was once decorated with 300 sculptures by Carl Kern. Although the property is now fenced off, its majestic ruins continue to delight history and architecture enthusiasts.
