Description
The Papal Altar in Sierakowice is a unique structure designed by local resident Jaroslaw Wojcik. The steel structure, which resembles a fishing net and is supported by two birds in flight, exudes spirituality and alludes to the teachings of John Paul II.
The altar was originally part of a mass celebrated by the pope in Pelplin during his 1999 pilgrimage to Poland. It is now located in the Eight Beatitudes Cultural Park, serving as a symbol of gratitude for the 1000th anniversary of Christianity in Poland.
Popular runs are organized around the altar, taking place on October 16, Pope's Day.
