Description
Abbot's Wood is a historic 360-acre forest that dates back to the time of Henry I.
Discover two scenic walking trails - the 2.5-mile Abbot's Amble trail leading past a medieval lake dug by monks in the 13th century, and the 1.25-mile Oak Walk through the oak woods, where bluebells bloom in spring.
The forest is teeming with life - it is inhabited by nearly thirty species of butterflies, including the rare pearl fritillary. In spring you'll hear the remarkable singing of nightingales, and on summer evenings you may encounter bats and skylarks.
