Description
The National Museum in Kielce is housed in the historic Palace of the Bishops of Cracow, and is a treasure trove of Polish art and history.
The rich collections include Polish paintings from the 17th to the 20th centuries, European works, arts and crafts, numismatics and weapons. Among the exhibits are works by prominent artists such as Jacek Malczewski, Jozef Chelmonski and Stanislaw Wyspianski.
The history of the museum dates back to 1908, and the first exhibit was a petrified tree. After World War II, it resumed its activities, and in 1975 it received the status of a National Museum.
