Monument to the Assen Dynasty

The Monument to the Asen Dynasty is a monumental sculpture complex commemorating the medieval rulers of Bulgaria who liberated the country from Byzantine rule in 1185.

Four dynamic equestrian statues of tsars surround a central 34-meter-high granite sword, symbolizing the power and eternal growth of the nation. Each ruler is depicted individually - from the blessing Peter to the triumphant Ivan Asen II with a spear piercing the peace treaty.

Located on a rocky promontory above the Yantra River, it offers spectacular views of the old town and the medieval capital.
