Description

The Krak Mound is the oldest artificial structure in Krakow, dating back to the 7th century. This mysterious 16-meter high mound offers a breathtaking panorama of the city.

According to legend, it is the burial place of Krakow's legendary founder Krak, who defeated a dragon terrorizing the area.

The mound has astronomical significance - it is aligned with the sunrise during the spring equinox. During Easter, it hosts the traditional Rękawka Festival, during which residents climb the mound, celebrating the ancient pagan festival.

avatarDavid Li2 weeks agoA little ways walk from the city, you can find this really cute hill that was supposedly the burial ground for Krakus, namesake of the city Krakow. On top of the mound, you can get a lovely view of the city. I went during the early afternoon, but I would imagine in the evening, the sunset would be stunning here. Highly recommend visiting especially if you're nearby!
avatarNick Gale3 months agoThe mound is very worth visiting if you’re coming to Krakow. It feels like a really local place and if the weather is good, you get a sense of the community that makes Krakow such a nice place to visit and live. Great views of the city too. You can see most of the districts of the centre from here. Also someone got proposed to on the mound while we were there. Maybe you’ll get lucky too!
avataranubha bhardwaj5 months agoBit of a walk to get to but the views are worth it. You see the whole of Krakow 360o. Good spot for a picnic with friends. You can easily reach there by walk or if you go by tram it is hardly 10 mins walk from podgórze ska tram stop. There is no tickets and the entry is free
