Description

The Teutonic Castle in Olsztynek is a fascinating monument of medieval Gothic architecture, built between 1349 and 1366 by Günter von Hohenstein, a komtur of the Teutonic Order.

Situated on a hill, the castle played a strategic role during the Polish-Teutonic wars and was captured by Polish troops in 1410. Its rectangular plan with a tower and outer walls and underground vaulted cellars delights history buffs.

Today, part of the castle is integrated into the school building, giving it a unique character combining past and present.
