Description
The ruins of the Teutonic castle in Toruń are a fascinating historical monument, being the remains of the first and oldest Teutonic fortress in the territory of former Prussia.
The castle is distinguished by its unusual half-ellipse shape, which sets it apart from the classic rectangular plans of later Teutonic buildings.
The best preserved element is Gdanisko - a tower with latrines, as well as fragments of walls and gates. The capture and demolition of the castle by the citizens of Toruń in 1454 symbolizes the city's victory over the Teutonic Order.
