Description
The Arch of Galerius is an impressive historical monument in Thessaloniki, built between 298-299 AD to commemorate Emperor Galerius' victory over the Persians.
This eight-pillar monument with three arches is decorated with beautiful reliefs depicting scenes from war campaigns and mythological narratives. Only three of the eight pillars and fragments of the arches remain today.
As part of a UNESCO World Heritage complex, the arch is a fascinating testament to Roman architecture and an excellent starting point for exploring the historic heart of the city.
