Description
The Krak Mound is the oldest artificial structure in Krakow, dating back to the 7th century. This mysterious 16-meter high mound offers a breathtaking panorama of the city.
According to legend, it is the burial place of Krakow's legendary founder Krak, who defeated a dragon terrorizing the area.
The mound has astronomical significance - it is aligned with the sunrise during the spring equinox. During Easter, it hosts the traditional Rękawka Festival, during which residents climb the mound, celebrating the ancient pagan festival.
