Devil's Quoits

Devil's Quoits is a fascinating Neolithic stone circle and barrow, 4,000-5,000 years old. It originally consisted of 36 standing stones arranged in a circle, surrounded by a deep ditch.

The site is shrouded in intriguing legend - it is said that the devil played quoits (a kind of ring-throwing game) with a beggar for his soul, and the stones landed where they still stand today.

Between 2002 and 2008, the monument was restored - the original stones were repositioned, and 20 new stones were placed in the original holes. For lovers of prehistory and mysterious legends, this is a real treat!
