Description

The Abbot Gate is an impressive Gothic city gate dating back to the 14th century, and is one of Sandomierz's most recognizable landmarks.

Its 30-meter-high gate offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city and the Vistula River valley.

It is not only a witness to history, but also an excellent starting point for discovering the charms of the old town. For a nominal fee, you can climb to the top and feel the spirit of the medieval city while admiring its modern beauty.

avatarKlaus Wanderer5 years agoSeems that every such tower in Poland is trying to extract as much as possible from tourists. I guess the view is great but for 6zl at most 10 minutes of visiting seems overpriced. Granted, it's not as bad as the one in Torun, at least here they put some info about the town on the walls, part of it in English but not that much. For cinema lovers, and this was the highlight for me, there is a list of movies made in Sandomierz, in Polish but I found that very useful. View of the city, the Vistula and all the green even in early winter is really gorgeous. I was alone visiting but right after me came a group of 50 pensioners, took me 15 minutes to get out as the stairs are very cramped. Could be a nuisance to visit in high season because it's quite cramped

avatarMalgorzata Grzegorczyk11 months agoBeautifull place! The gate is more like a tower and has a viewing point on top with those metal binoculars you can pay to use and see up to the glass factory and a bit of side of the Vistula River. Though the stairs are a bit steep and takes time, very hard if you have movement problems. You have to buy tickets in the middle of the tower and can choose fridge magnets and more turist stuff. It's connected to an old hospital that's abbandoned now. If you're nearby, you can go there and the rest of the old town.
