Description
Banbury Cross is a famous historical monument, made famous by the popular English lullaby 'Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross'. The current neo-Gothic cross, erected in 1859, commemorates the wedding of Queen Victoria's daughter and stands over 15 meters high.
Nearby is a bronze statue of the 'Beautiful Lady' on a white horse, referring to the lullaby, decorated with symbols of spring like daffodils and wild roses.
Every July, it hosts the Hobby Horse Festival, a colorful parade of wooden horses and races that attracts families with children and history buffs.
