Description
The Teutonic Castle in Barciany is an impressive 14th century Gothic building, erected on the site of a former Prussian stronghold.
Measuring 55x58 meters and surrounded by fortifications and a moat, this massive fortress impresses with its medieval architecture and strategic location on a natural hill among the marshes of the Livna River.
Inside, one can admire a well-preserved Gothic chapel, a columned hall and a knight's chamber. The castle, built in 1377-1390 under the direction of Winrich von Kniprode, is a fascinating lesson in the history of the Teutonic Order.
