Description
The Memorial to the Fallen and Murdered in the East is a unique memorial in Warsaw that touches the hearts of visitors.
The monument, in the form of a life-size railroad car on tracks, symbolizes the deportation of Poles to Siberia during the 1939 Soviet invasion.
Each rail pad contains the names of the places from which Polish citizens were deported and the names of the labor camps. The wagon is decorated with religious symbols - Catholic and Orthodox crosses, Jewish and Muslim symbols and the Polish Cross of Valor, making the site a universal symbol of suffering and remembrance.
