Description
The Tenement House at 14 Waliców Street is an exceptional seven-story historical monument of Warsaw, designed by Wacław Heppen and Józef Napoleon Czerwiński.
The building was part of the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II and survived the bombings, becoming a silent witness to the city's tragic history. Famous artists lived here, including the poet Władysław Szlengel and photographer Menachem Kipnis.
The building's distinctive façade with a triangular gable and Klein ceilings account for its architectural value. The tenement bears traces of wartime damage, including damage to the facade from a 1944 German bomb, which adds to its authenticity as a monument to history.
