Description
The March Gate in Lagow is a fascinating monument from the 16th century, part of the former city fortifications. Also known as the Berlin Gate, it was the city's third line of defense next to the castle and ramparts.
Its unique architecture combines a brick and stone first floor with a wooden structure of the first floor, topped by a hipped roof covered with ceramic tiles. The former gunposts, converted into windows in the 19th century, and the narrower pedestrian passage add to the gate's unique character.
It is an ideal place for lovers of history and medieval architecture, who appreciate authentic monuments with a rich past.
