Description
Freedom Beach is a hidden paradise on the west coast of Phuket, between Patong and Karon beaches. Crystal clear waters, soft white sand and lush greenery create the perfect place for peace seekers.
The beach offers excellent conditions for snorkeling - the shallow waters near the shore abound with colorful fish and coral formations. You can also enjoy a game of beach volleyball or get a traditional Thai massage right on the beach.
Access to this oasis of tranquility is by boat (15-25 minutes from Patong Beach) or by hiking through the jungle for the more adventurous.

A F2 weeks agoI went to the freedom beach in the early morning. It was particular amazing experience.
The whole beach was empty for me
I spent a great time there between swimming tanning and meditation. If you want to go there, I recommend you to go to early morning before the crowd come.
James Monks2 weeks agoGreat beach away from all the busy chaos on the more touristy Kata & Karon beach.
To get to the beach you have to drive through a tricky road that’s unpaved and then take a 300m hike through the jungle (all well signposted). We tried to drive to the Barefoot Bistro (which is the only beach bar on Freedom Beach) but unfortunately it seems like the road there is closed off and everyone is forced to hike down.
Wouldn’t bother going too early in the day as the tide is very far in and there’s limited space to put your towel down. Also in wet season be careful when swimming, one tourist had to be dragged out when we were there in June.

There’s a 100 baht entrance fee, so we expected the beach to be well-maintained — but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. We came across plastic bags, bottles, and fishing gear floating in the water. Several local shops nearby seem to use the surrounding forest as a dumping ground for trash (see photos), which was really disappointing. At least only the sides of the beach seemed to be affected by trash on the sandy beach.
That said, the beach itself is naturally beautiful. The view is stunning, which is probably why many visitors were taking photos — avoiding the garbage, of course.
There were a few beach bars where you could buy food and drinks. Toilets are available for 10 baht, but they were quite dirty and had no toilet paper.
It wasn’t too crowded when we visited — there were quite a few people, but it still felt relaxed and comfortable.
Getting to the beach is relatively easy if you’re not mobility impaired. You can take a taxi to the entrance and then walk down a set of stairs. There’s also a transport option back up to the main road for 100 baht, but we walked it in about 10 minutes with our two kids (5 and 8 years old) without any problems.
I don’t see myself or my family visiting this beach again.Related categories
