Description

Farleigh Hungerford Castle is a fascinating medieval fortification with a rich history of the Hungerford family, who lived here for nearly 300 years.

The castle impresses with its unique features, including one of only four surviving medieval wall paintings in England depicting St. George and the Dragon.

In St. Leonard's Chapel, visitors can admire rare anthropomorphic lead coffins from the mid-17th century and numerous memorials to the Hungerford family. The castle also played a role in the English Civil War, being taken over by Royalist and Parliamentary forces.
