Description
The Sekler Gate in Tarnovo is a unique wooden monument donated to the city in 2001 by the Hungarian Irott Szó Foundation and the city of Sepsiszentgyőrgy.
It commemorates the 170th anniversary of the Battle of Ostroleka, in which Joseph Bem fought. It is one of three such gates in Poland, along with those in Stary Sacz and Košice Východné.
Richly decorated with floral motifs, beards and various symbols, it is a testament to the craftsmanship of European artisans and reflects the rich folk culture of the Szeklers, known for their democratic military practices and self-government.
