Description

Baiguate Waterfall is a picturesque 25-meter waterfall located in the heart of the Dominican jungle.

Surrounded by lush pine and walnut trees, it offers an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventurers. The crystal clear water (which changes color after it rains) flows into a natural pool, perfect for a refreshing swim.

The site has a rich history - it was once an important ceremonial site for the indigenous Taíno people. For the adventurous, activities such as canyoning and rappelling are available, while the less experienced can enjoy peaceful trekking and beautiful views of the Cibao Valley.

avatarPhil McC4 months agoParking is available at the end of the road, and getting to the falls entails walking along a flat approximately 1/2 km paved walk and then you descend a set of 83 steps to the base and then do the reverse to return. It is not the gruelling hike some would have you believe. The falls themselves are beautiful, dropping 80 feet into a small basin, which is mostly ankle deep and sandy until right near the fall where it gets deeper. The water itself was pleasantly cool in the heat of the day and you are allowed go in. There are also a couple of "showers" at the left on the opposite sandbank and a rocky area facing the falls. Bring water shoes, swimming gear, towel and water. There are restrooms at the parking area but nothing st the falls.
avatarChris King6 years agoOnly one word; Awesome!! I’m not sure if this is a hidden gem or just happened when we arrived, but we were the only family there. I was expecting like most tourists spot to be packed. We arrived on a Wednesday around 4pm and left just before closing. There is a $50RP charge. You pay the park attendant. **Do use Caution *** the trail to the fall is very gradual for the first 3/4th. Last 1/4, it does get very steep with steps sweeping back and forth down the hill side. Total distance of the trail if I had to guess is 3/4 of mile.
avatarbrodie wilcoxa year agoIt’s rained a lot, so the water is very heavy. The river was high and get out to take a picture of the falls. The sun at 10 am is directly over the falls and makes it hard to see from the front, especially with the mist in the air. There is a second Path that goes up on top over the falls, but there is no railing on the stairs, so you need to be careful.
