The heart of Mragowo - the amphitheater and Lake Czos

The heart of Mragowo and also its biggest attraction is undoubtedly the Amphitheater on Lake Czos. It is here that the famous Country Picnic takes place every year, attracting thousands of country music fans from all over Poland and abroad. The Amphitheater, located at 10 Jaszczurcza Góra, is not only a concert venue, but a true showpiece of the city. The facility, which can accommodate more than 5,000 spectators, impresses with its architecture and picturesque location on the shores of Lake Czos. Even outside the festival season, it is worth a visit to admire the beautiful views and feel the atmosphere of this unique place.

Access to the amphitheater is easy - you can walk here from the city center (about 15-20 minutes) or use public transportation. There are also special bus runs during the summer events. Interestingly, you can also get here by 'water streetcar' floating on Lake Czos, which is an attraction in itself! A one-way ticket costs PLN 8 (as of 2023).

Around the amphitheater you'll find numerous food outlets, souvenir stores and water equipment rentals. This is an ideal place to start your tour of Mragowo. It is worth planning a visit here in the morning or afternoon, when the sun is not yet too strong and the views are most beautiful.

Right next to the amphitheater stretches the City Beach, which is another must-see in Mragowo. It's a well-landscaped space offering attractions for the whole family. On the beach there are separate swimming zones of different depths, which ensures the safety of both the youngest and adult swimmers. Note the clear water depth markings. The beach is guarded by lifeguards during the summer season, usually from the end of June to the end of August, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

On the beach area you will find comfortable piers from which you can jump into the water (with safety precautions, of course), a children's playground and numerous food and beverage outlets. Water equipment rentals offer kayaks, pedal boats and SUPs, so you can actively spend time on the water.

Important information for families with children - there are toilets and changing rooms at the beach. Admission to the beach is free. Car parking is available a short distance away, but it can be difficult to find a spot during peak season, so consider walking from the center or using public transportation.

Both the amphitheater and the city beach are adapted for people with disabilities. There are ramps and special descents into the water. However, it's worth contacting the Mragowo Tourist Information before visiting to get the latest information on accessibility and facilities.

History and culture - the museum and charming corners of the city

To get a better idea of Mragowo's history and culture, be sure to visit the Mragowo Museum, located at 5 Town Hall St. It's a place that takes a look at the region's rich past, from prehistoric times to the present. The museum is housed in a historic 19th century town hall, which is an attraction in itself.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (as of 2023). Tickets cost PLN 14 for adults and PLN 9 for children and seniors. On Sundays, admission is free. The exhibit is relatively small, but very interesting and interactive, making it a great place to visit with children. Many of the exhibits can be touched and 'played with', which is sure to appeal to the little ones.

Particularly noteworthy is the exhibition on the history of the Mragowo Country Picnic, which introduces the phenomenon of the event and its impact on the development of the city. Archaeology lovers will be interested in finds from nearby excavations, including everyday objects from the Bronze Age.

After visiting the museum, take a stroll along the charming pedestrian zone in Mragowo. This is the heart of the city, where you can feel its true atmosphere. The promenade stretches along the shore of Lake Czos, offering beautiful views and numerous places to rest. It is the perfect place for a family stroll at any time of the year.

The promenade has many cafes, restaurants and souvenir stores. It's a great place to try local specialties, such as fish from nearby lakes or traditional Masurian dumplings. An attraction for children will certainly be the 'duck machine' - a vending machine with food for ducks and swans, which can often be found on the lake shore.

Walking further along the promenade, you will reach the charming Spring of Love. This picturesque place is located on Lizard Mountain, about a 10-15 minute walk from the city center. According to local legend, the water from the spring has magical properties - it is supposed to provide good luck in love to those who taste it. Whether you believe the legend or not, it is a charming place for a short rest while walking.

For those who enjoy active recreation, we recommend a visit to Gen. Wladyslaw Sikorski Park. This is a vast green area in the center of the city, ideal for family picnics or jogging. The park has educational paths, a children's playground, an outdoor gym and even a special gym for the disabled. It's a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy nature.

It's worth noting that all the places mentioned are available free of charge (except for the museum) and can be visited at any time of the day. It is best to plan a visit in the morning or afternoon, especially in summer when temperatures are cooler. Remember to bring comfortable shoes, headgear and water - especially if you plan a longer walk around the city.

It is also a popular place for birthday parties. Daisy is open daily from 10:00-20:00, and entry prices start at PLN 20 per hour (as of 2023).
