Natural wonders and magical places
Let's start our adventure from the Root Pit Gorge, which is located on Doły Street. This is a place that delights not only children, but also adults. The gorge, which is about 700 meters long, is accessible to all ages. Admission tickets are affordable: PLN 4 per adult, and a family ticket (2+1) costs PLN 7. It is best to plan your visit on a weekday, when there are fewer tourists. Remember to wear comfortable shoes!
Another magical place is the 'Magic Gardens' located in the village of Trzcianki. This is Poland's first family theme park, which transports visitors to a fairy-tale world. The park offers plenty of attractions, all included in the price of admission (about PLN 100). You'll find treetop walks, raft rides on a shallow pond, or exciting slides. The park is ideal for children under 13, although older children will find something to enjoy here as well. It's a good idea to plan a full-day visit and bring along provisions for a picnic - prices at the park's restaurant are quite high.
Animal encounters and rose gardens
A visit to the Kazimierski Alpaks is another highlight, sure to delight the little ones. They are located on Juliusz Malachowski Street, in a picturesque ravine. This is a place where you can not only admire the friendly alpacas, but also feed them with carrots, which can be purchased on site. The farm is run with passion, and the owners are happy to talk about their charges. In addition to alpacas, you can also meet other animals here.
The Million Roses and Borderland Monuments Park, located at 73 Krakowska Street, is another unusual attraction. The park is pet-friendly, and children can not only admire the various species of roses here, but also learn about history in miniature thanks to an exhibition of borderland monuments. There is an atmospheric store with rose specialties on the grounds - try rose fudge or rose petal jam. There are special workshops and educational activities for the youngest. The entrance ticket costs PLN 25 for an adult (as of 2024), and children under 3 years of age enter for free.
Heart of the city and surrounding attractions
A visit to the Kazimierski Market Square, which is the heart of the city and the starting point of many tours, should not be missed. It is here that you will find characteristic townhouses, numerous galleries and stalls selling souvenirs, including the famous Kazimier roosters, which children love. It is best to visit the Market Square early in the morning, when there are fewer tourists and you can admire the architecture in peace and take souvenir photos.
Near the Market Square there are many other attractions worth visiting. Worth mentioning is the Vistula River Boulevard, where you can have a family picnic or take a boat cruise on the Vistula. For more active families, we recommend a walk to the Hill of Three Crosses, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the Vistula valley.
When planning your visit, there are a few practicalities to keep in mind. Kazimierz Dolny can be crowded during the summer season, so it is better to plan your arrival outside the peak season or on weekdays. Parking can be a problem - it is worth checking the location of parking lots and their prices in advance. There are many restaurants and cafes in the city, but prices are sometimes higher than in other places. It's a good idea to take snacks and drinks with you, especially when exploring the gorges or walking around the area.
