Description
Loket Castle is a majestic, more than 800-year-old fortress perched on a granite rock, surrounded by the Ohře River.
It is a place full of fascinating history - a young Prince Wenceslas, later Emperor Charles IV, was imprisoned here and discovered the nearby thermal springs, giving rise to the Karlovy Vary.
Unique exhibits await in the castle: a collection of porcelain, an old pharmacy, a meteorite that fell in the courtyard in 1422, and medieval dungeons with a torture chamber. The 12th century Romanesque rotunda, one of the smallest in the Czech Republic, is a true architectural gem.
