Description
The Lewes Castle and Museum is a fascinating historical site, being one of the first castles in England after the Norman Conquest in 1066. Its unique design with two mottes hills sets it apart from other Norman fortifications.
Climbing to the top of the tower, visitors can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Sussex. An adjacent archaeological museum displays artifacts from prehistory to the Middle Ages, as well as temporary exhibitions of treasures from the collection.
For history buffs, there is a model of the town and a short film detailing the history of Lewes. This is an ideal destination for families and medieval enthusiasts.
