Description
Chojnik Castle - Ruins is a medieval fortress located at the top of Chojnik Mountain in the Karkonosze Mountains. This 13th-century building, erected by Prince Bolek I the Raw, has survived numerous sieges and attacks, becoming a symbol of the region.
The castle walls offer breathtaking panoramas of the Karkonosze, Jizera and Kaczawskie Mountains. The place is shrouded in legend about the cruel Kunegunda, who promised her hand to the daredevil who would go around the castle walls on horseback - many paid with their lives.
Worth seeing is the Gothic chapel from 1403, the narrow passages between the walls and the observation tower.
