Description
Chirk Castle - National Trust is an impressive 13th-century fortress located on the Welsh-English border. Built in 1295 by Roger Mortimer de Chirk, it combines medieval architecture with 18th-century elements.
Visitors are treated to magnificent chambers, including the 17th-century Long Gallery and three 18th-century State Chambers. Surrounding the castle, the 5.5 acres of award-winning gardens delight with carefully trimmed hedges, herb beds and rock gardens.
The 480-acre park features centuries-old trees, meadows full of wildflowers and a preserved section of Offa's Bulwark, an ancient earthwork rampart.
