The Forbidden City is an impressive palace complex in Beijing that is one of the most important museums in the world.

This former residence of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties impresses with its red walls and yellow roofs, as well as a wealth of exhibits ranging from ancient porcelain vessels to calligraphy and embroidery.

Walking through the 980 buildings and 9,000 chambers, you can feel the atmosphere of imperial court life five centuries ago. The complex is divided into an outdoor area (state affairs) and an indoor area (imperial family life).
