The Bundeswehr Monument

The Bundeswehr Memorial is a unique memorial dedicated to the soldiers and civilian employees of the German armed forces who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The rectangular concrete structure covered in perforated bronze resembles the immortals worn by soldiers, symbolizing the individuality of each fallen person.

Inside is the Room of Silence, where the names of more than 3,200 fallen are displayed on the wall. Each name appears for about eight seconds, emphasizing the transience of life and the individuality of death.

The monument's architecture deliberately departs from the heroization of war, focusing on sacrifice and service.
