Description

The Soviet Soldiers' Memorial in Berlin-Tiergarten is an impressive historical monument commemorating the 80,000 Soviet soldiers killed during the Battle of Berlin in 1945.

The monument was built with stones from the destroyed Reich Chancellery and features an 8-meter-tall bronze sculpture of a Red Army soldier whose arm extends over the graves of more than 2,000 soldiers buried there.

The monument is flanked by two T-34 tanks and two ML-20 152mm artillery howitzers, which announced the end of the Battle of Berlin. It is a place full of symbolism and reflection on the history of World War II, and is an important part of the cultural landscape of the German capital.
