Description

The horse statue of Ban Josip Jelačić is an iconic symbol of Zagreb, located in the heart of the Croatian capital. This majestic sculpture, created by Austrian artist Anton Fernkorn, was originally unveiled in 1866.

Interestingly, the monument originally faced north, but in 1947 its orientation was changed to south to better reflect the city's development.

Nearby is the Manduševac fountain, which is linked to the legend of the origin of the city's name. The square around the monument is a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike.
