Description
Dunnottar Castle is a historic fortress perched on a rocky hill, surrounded by steep cliffs 160 feet high. It is a true paradise for photographers and history buffs.
The castle has a rich history dating back to the 5th century, when St. Ninian established a small chapel here. It has witnessed many significant events, including a siege in 681 and a battle between King Donald II and the Vikings in 900.
The castle's unique layout with three distinct groups of buildings makes for fascinating exploration. You can visit the Keep, Waterton's Lodging and Quadrangle, each of which offers insights into different periods of the castle's history.
