Description
Wurmeck is a fascinating dragon sculpture placed on the southwest corner of the New Town Hall in the heart of Marienplatz in Munich.
Created in 1906 by German sculptors Anton Kaindel and Hygin Kiene, this bronze sculpture depicts the legendary dragon that, according to local legends, brought the Black Death to Munich.
The city's brave citizens defeated the beast, ending the plague. The sculpture is not only an interesting architectural element, but also tells a fascinating story of local folklore, and is a testament to Munich's rich history.
