Description

La Marta Wildlife Refuge is Costa Rica's first private nature reserve, part of the UNESCO-listed La Amistad International Park.

Covering an area of 1,518 hectares, you'll find 60% primary and 40% secondary rainforest, home to a variety of plant and animal species.

The site has a rich history - you'll discover traces of the Cabecar culture and the remains of an 1870 agro-industrial hacienda, abandoned after an environmental disaster in 1930.

Well-maintained trails of varying levels of difficulty, swimming opportunities in designated areas and camping make this an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventurers.
