Description
Carbisdale Castle is the last castle built in the British Isles, erected in 1907 in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Known as the 'Castle of Revenge', it was built out of spite - the Duchess of Sutherland had it built so that it would be visible from her husband's family estate, and the clock tower deliberately has no face on the side facing their lands.
This monumental building with 365 windows impresses with its Scottish baronial architecture and hosted King Haakon VII of Norway during World War II. Today, it offers luxurious interiors with baroque fireplaces, a spa with a swimming pool, and 2,000 acres of forest with a wild lake full of trout.
