Description
National Trust - Nymans is a historic garden created by three generations of the Messel family. The romantic ruins of the mansion, which burned down in 1947, provide a picturesque backdrop for a rich collection of plants from around the world, including camellias, rhododendrons and magnolias.
A unique feature is the 'Garden in Ruins,' designed as a tribute to Oliver Messel, the famous stage designer. Steel screens inspired by theatrical decorations, water features and oak pots create a magical space under the open sky.
There are natural play paths and geocaching for families, and gardening enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of species and thoughtful design.
