Description
Cannock Chase National Landscape is a 68 km² plateau in Staffordshire, where heathland meets history dating back to the Bronze Age. The largest Iron Age fort in the region, Castle Ring, towers over the landscape at a height of 242 meters.
Traces of the past are everywhere: medieval coal mines, remains of glassworks, and even authentic World War I training trenches. The LiDAR project has discovered 565 archaeological sites here, 436 of which were previously unknown!
It is a wild haven in the midst of the urbanized Midlands—perfect for history and nature lovers.
