Description
National Trust - Smallhythe Place is a fascinating 16th century wooden house that was once the home of Ellen Terry, one of the most famous Victorian actresses.
Today, the place functions as a museum showcasing Terry's personal and theatrical collection, and the 17th-century thatched barn has been converted into the Barn Theater, which hosts a variety of performances.
A colorful country garden, traditional rose garden, orchard and ponds create a picturesque setting that is home to abundant wildlife, including the protected great crested newt. An ideal place for theater, history and nature lovers.
