The Happy Cemetery is a unique place in the Romanian village of Săpânța that completely changes the approach to death and mourning.

The colorful, hand-carved tombstones in an intense blue color called 'Săpânța blue' depict scenes from the lives of the deceased and contain humorous epitaphs, often describing funny situations or causes of death.

Each cross is a small work of naive art, telling the story of the person who rests beneath it - be it a farmer at work, a seamstress at a machine, or a driver who drove a car too fast.
